Okay. I am not sure why it has taken me since October to write a post. We have been through a ton of snow, then on to baby goats, lots of baby cows, lots of friends having birthday parties and even Sunni's 10th birthday has passed. We had visitors from Atlanta and Asheville and we have been enjoying it all. I am sure that I have missed something but I will try to post as many pictures as I can. I will probably start with the most recent and work my way backwards.

These are some pictures from our first big snow. We went all out and had a blast. We thought it would be our only big snow but we were very wrong. I think we ended up having 4 pretty big snows. The girls loved it. Friends came over and we used the four wheeler to get kids up the big hill after they sled down. I think the daddy's might have had more fun than the kids. I will post those pictures soon.

Pumpkin Decoration

This morning Grandpa brought over a bail of hay and went and got some square bails as well. We took our pumpkins down and set up a little decorations for the Fall season. And of course the cats were with us.....except for "Coffee", he must have been sleeping.

It is very cold here all of a sudden! We are loving that!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch on Friday and had a blast! The girls loved it and the weather was perfect.

Summer is gone!

Well, that was fast. Last time I posted was Spring and now Summer is gone. Amazing! It goes by so fast. Since my last post Sunni turned 9, Lillie turned 7 and Molly just turned 5. I can't believe how much older the girls are getting. We also received 3 kittens which are now CATS. (Milo, Coffee and Tom) There is nothing small about them. They are great mousers and we love them so much. If they could stay out of the highway we would be very excited. So far so good! We also managed to secure a miniature horse. His name is "Mr. D". I believe his papers say "Denali". So.....Mr. D it is! He is great and I will try to post a picture of him here soon. All the baby goats are big and will be momma goats next spring. We also had a baby llama over the summer. Exactly one year after she had the other baby last year. So, the llamas are Prissy (momma), Penny (1 yr) and Patty (4 mths.) They are really good and we can pet them all now. They use to not like us very much but I guess they have figured out they we are here to stay.

The girls are doing great! They are Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade this year. We are currently in a book club for the girls. We are reading Little House On The Prairie books this time. The girls love it. Last week they got together with friends and made butter, learned to cross stitch, and drank goats milk. (mmmmmm....good) Friday we went to the pumpkin patch. I will have to post pictures of that. The girls had so much fun. We went through a very large corn maze and had a blast!

There is so much going on so I will try to keep up. The girls want to start helping me with the blog so I am going to let them help as well.

Another Sign Of Spring

I mowed my grandmothers back yard yesterday with a push mower just to clean it up before it rained last night. Well, I came up on a water moccasin. A pretty good sized poisonous snake. So, I will be watching the ground a little closer and keeping an eye out when the kids play outside. They play all over the area that I found him in. In fact, they had been running around in the yard just before I sent them in so that I could mow. Crazy! That is life on the farm I guess.

Spring Is Here

Well, I have not done this in some time. We have had more computer trouble since Christmas than I care to deal with. Maybe....just maybe....we are past some of that. Of course, that goes with living in rural Arkansas. (I guess.)

Here is what is going on now and I will update the past few months as I can. Four of our five female goats had 6 kids within a 24 hour period. It is crazy down there in the barn. We went from an infirmary several months ago to a maternity ward today. So far, all the goats are doing well. One mom is rejecting her little one but we are working on that. We shall see.

It started sleeting here around noon yesterday and continued off and on until about 6:00 this morning.

David leaving for work at 4:00am. He had to leave his car down at Dads house.

The infirmary!

At this point the barn at our house is currently being used as an infirmary. We have 3 small calves that need a little extra attention. 99 was born just before we got here in May and stayed in the barn with her mom for a little while. She is still not thriving like we would expect her to so we are feeding her special in the barn. 79 is older than 99 but also not looking so good. We are trying to get her along as well. Now, #9, more effectionately known as "Scrawny".....I am not sure what is up with the 9's......"Scrawny" was born over the summer and we started calling her "Scrawny" as soon as she was born. She just looked scrawny. We are bottle feeding her to help her become...well....unscrawny. She is very sweet!

This is #79 and she is kind of a brute. She pushes the others around. She will be back out with the heard as soon as she puts on some weight.

After having taken our first candy making class we decided to try it for ourselves. It was very simple and did not take very long. The girls loved making the candy and of course it did not last very long. We gave some away and ate the rest. We may have to make some more!

Chocolate covered Ritz crackers with peanut butter, bears, snowmen, spoons, flags, flowers, suckers, sea shells...you name it we made it.

Last Tuesday we went to a candy making class with our homeschool group. The girls loved it. We learned a lot about making chocolate candy using molds. It is simple and the girls could not wait to try it at home.

Thanksgiving Day

We went to Aunt Colleens for lunch today. Her daughter and her husband were there with their children and their children's children. Great grandma was there and Grandpa was there as well. The food was wonderful and we have enough turkey left over to make it through the winter. (yum)

Last night we went over to some friends house and we rolled the girls hair. It turned out so cute. Molly did not want to be in the pictures today so some are just Sunni and Lillie. We had a great day and the weather was awesome. Happy Thanksgiving to all.....we miss all of our friends and family that are not here with us. Stay safe and have a wonderful weekend!

Thanksgiving Tradition Continues

The Thanksgiving Ride was once again a hit with those who participated. We changed gears and did some road riding instead of the usual mountain bike trip to Chicopee. Danny and myself rode from his house on some Arkansas back roads. Traffic was not a factor either but the dogs did try to chase us down the road a bit. The weather this morning was clear and cold. We set out a little after 8am and we made it back in time to have some coffee. ~David

We went to Clarendon on Saturday to visit our family. The girls had way too much fun with Aunt Becky and Uncle Jimmy. The girls always seem to get into something while we were there. I am sure there will be more pictures than these later. These are just the ones from my camera.

We are behind on our blogging so we are trying to get things caught up.
These pictures are from last Sunday. November 9th. We went fishing in the afternoon for about 2 hours. Just enough time for David to catch one of "the big ones". We had fun! It is always fun to hang out at the pond.

These picture were taken with a game camera by our neighbor. They show a buck and a grey fox. The fox has been getting into the chickens at our neighbors house but so far he has not been in our barn. We just thought these pictures were cool.

The girls ride the four wheeler with our neighbor to take "Dandy" to his next post. He is the "bull" of the goats around here.

Grandpa got us a John Deere Gator. For some reason David and I do not fit on it very well. However, the girls seem to like it.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

We went to the Pumpkin Patch in Augusta on Tuesday. The girls had so much fun. They had a hayride, a corn maze, a sunflower field, cotton you could pick and a pile of cotton to play in. That is by far the best pumpkin patch we have ever been to.

More Fishing

We went fishing again last Sunday. The girls really enjoyed it. Sunni
caught her first fish ever and then continued until she caught her first 5
total. Lillie liked it but got bored soon and started being the camera girl for
us. She took pictures of everyones catch. Sunni and David both brought in "The
Big One" and we all saw him just before he broke each of their lines. (We need
stronger line.) Anyway, we had a lot of fun. Molly got bored pretty early in the
game but she was very good and did not complain. She just wandered around on the edge of the pond and then ran to see every fish that was caught.

Fishing in Arkansas

Well, we have finally gone fishing on the farm. We have been here for four months looking out at my Dad's pond and have never gone near it let alone gone fishing in it. Last Saturday a gentleman that works with my dad, who is also the nephew of the man that built this house and my dads, came over to fish. He brought his wife and they fished all day. It looked like so much fun we decided to go down for a closer look. After talking with them we decided we would go fishing Sunday afternoon.

So, on Sunday we found all the fishing poles that we could here on the farm and tried to get them in working order. We all had a pole and set out to fish. It was really great considering it was our first try at fishing with the girls. They did not understand why the fish didn't just bite as soon as you put the pole out. I am sure that we will all need to learn to be patient if we want to continue fishing. David hooked the first fish but it took his line and ran. I caught the second one and was able to get it pulled in. We had a great time! Check out the pictures.

Molly turned four years old today! She had a big birthday lunch at grandpa's house. We had lots of food and lots of fun. We had way too much sugar. We are all tired and going to bed. Molly was very good today. No tears or tantrums. It was a wonderful day!

First a Picture

A cleft is a birth defect that occurs when the tissues of the lip and/or palate of the fetus do not fuse very early in pregnancy. A cleft lip, sometimes referred to as a harelip, is an opening in the upper lip that can extend into the base of the nostril. A cleft palate is an opening in the roof of the mouth.

Since we are living on a farm the majority of my blogs will probably include the farm. I am not sure that this has ever happened on this farm before. I will have to research that. However, given the number of cattle that have crossed these pastures it was bound to happen sooner or later.

While this calf has a defect that will make eating a little more difficult for him than it is for others I believe that he will be a wonderful addition to the farm. Quite frankly...I think he is extremely cute! (Oh! The other cutie in the picture is farmer Dave......he is a great cattle catcher.....is that even a term?:-))

The beginning of a blog.

We have been trying to find a way to keep others updated on our life on the farm. It seems that blogging might just be the answer even though we are hesitant to put our information out there for everyone to look at. However, we have decided to give it a try. We want to be able to share pictures and funny stories with all of our family and friends. We have been on the farm for almost four months now. We have seen many births, one death (Lenny the llama) and many, many new and exciting things. Some good, some bad but all worth it. We love living here on the farm and the girls are enjoying it as well. We have been in our 4th year of homeschooling for about 6 weeks now and this has been the best start of all four years. Lillie is in 1st grade. Sunni is in 3rd grade and Molly is just Molly......she does a little bit of everything. We have found a local homeschool group here in Batesville and we are really enjoying it. Sunni is involved in Basketball and loves it. She and her sisters practice in the carport almost every day.

Well, that is all for now. We are going to try and keep up with things as much as possible. We get a little busy sometimes and we barely have time for the things that we need to do not to mention the things that we want to do. We are hoping that this will be a good tool for keeping in touch with everyone. Thanks for reading!
